Our Origin

RCCG Rehoboth Assebly Doha - The Story Thus Far...

The Rehoboth Assembly parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God started as a fellowship of Christian believers in the home of Mr. & Mrs. Jide Adeleye in February 2007. The fellowship leader, Pastor Tokunbo balogun had relocated to Qatar in may 2006 with his family to pick up a secular appoinment. the burden to serve the Lord in this land became overwhelming and irresistible, Thus, he liaised with bro Adeleye on the possibility of establishing a house fellowship in Doha. Being a long term resident in Qatar, the Lord used the Adeleye's as an instrument to kick start the fellowship just like in the days of Lydia (Acts 16:9-15). And so, sometime in February 2007, four brethren, namely; Pastor Tokunbo Balogun, Bro Jide Adeleye, Deacon Uzo Ojimadu and Bro Alex Osike met to start the house fellowship.

With this opening, brethren gathered once a week for sessions of prayers and bible study. Over the months due to relocation and eventual secular posting out of Qatar of the Adeleye's the house fellowship was relocated to the home of Pastor tokunbo balogun. The felloship continued to grow in bounds in accordance with the word of the Lord in Acts 2:47. It was evident that people were thirsty for His word and the house fellowship became a rallying ground for many brethren that had been yearning for something different from what was available in Doha. It became clear with the attendance growing daily that we could not continue to meet at home due to space constraints.

We sought the face of the Lord for an opening to have a meeting venue and God answered us from the book of gen. 26: 17:30. He promised ge was going to make room for us in the land, thus the name Rehoboth. Withing a short time, we got a place of meeting in an Indian Cultural centre in Doha, and the testimony began. Within a month, this venue became too small and we had to relocate to another venue. the second venue, which was a Party hall in a restaurant, also became inadequate after three months and we relocated to a bigger hotel hall by the sixth month.

God's favor was evident in our growth as indeed, He was always making room for us. As a fellowship, we all shared one thing in common, and everybody was ready to give their time and resources to support the work of God.

Parish Inauguration

By the time we were preparing for our inauguration as a Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in October 2008, God opened a big door for the Church in terms of Church accommodation. This indeed is a testimony, and the evidence of God's favor and fulfillment of His promise. A Qatari Landlord readily gave his house to us for fellowship. This was indeed God at work and god has used this Landlord in many ways to enlarge the coast of the Church.

The Rehoboth Assembly was formally inaugurated as a parish of Redeemed Christian Church of God, under Delta Province 2 by pastor Ayoola Adeyanju, and assisted by Pastor Olufemi Mosuro in October 2008. In addition, just before the inauguration, we received a formal letter from the Anglican Church of in Qatar recognizing us as a Church group affiliated to the Anglican Church.
